his is a full-time Assistant Public Defender Position with the Armstrong County Public 

 

Defender’s Office 

he salary is set at $57,500/year 

o experience required, but previous Public Defender internship/experience preferred.  

he primary responsibilities of this position are to represent individuals charged with crimes. 
The representation can start as early as the Preliminary Hearing stage and continues on through 
the appellate courts.  The representation includes the investigation of the charges by our 
investigator to ensure that all possible defenses are explored. An assistant Public defender will 
also be responsible for representing individuals accused of violating a Protection from Abuse 
orders, violating a support order, juveniles accused of committing crimes, violating the terms of 
probation or parole, and those involuntarily committed for mental health treatment. They will 
also be required to ensure that the rights of the indigent are protected.
