Judge Jeremiah D. Zook of the Court of Common Pleas of the 39th Judicial District of Pennsylvania
is accepting applications for the position of judicial law clerk. This is a minimum one (1) year
appointment, beginning in August 2023. The Court sits primarily in Franklin County,
Pennsylvania, with obligations to Fulton County, Pennsylvania, as a combined judicial district.
ll applicants must be either a graduate of an accredited law school, or in their third year in
anticipation of a Spring 2023 graduation. Applicants shall intend to sit for a state bar exam in
2023.
his position involves significant legal research and writing and the successful candidate will have
strong skills in both areas. The Court of Common Pleas is the court of general jurisdiction in the
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Judge Zook primarily presides over civil/domestic relations and
orphans’ court matters, but judicial responsibilities are subject to change without notice. Judicial
law clerks work closely with their assigned judge in most areas of judicial duties. Primarily, the
law clerk will be responsible for reviewing the daily motion/petition intake, drafting opinions and
orders, and conducting legal research. Other duties as assigned by the Court.
he position is 37 ½ hours per week, with a starting salary of $54,446.84. Law Clerks may be
subject to irregular hours of work as required by the Court, i.e., proceedings beyond normal
working hours, imminent decision deadlines, etc. Benefits include health/dental/vision insurance,
and paid time off.
